Jade Buddha Temple is famous for its 2 statues of Buddha made of a whole piece of white jade. The statues were brought here by a monk Huigen from Burma. The temple was built to keep these two statues. One of the figures is the Sitting Buddha shown at the moment of his meditation and enlightenment. It’s 190 cm high statue encrusted by the agate and the emerald. This statue is located in the Jade Buddha Tower. You’ll see here more than 7000 Dazang sutras also. They are the inestimable culture relics.
The other figure is the Recumbent Budda lying in the pose of “lucky repose”. It shows Sakyamuni leaving this world. It’s 96 cm long. This statue is located in the Recumbent Buddha Hall.
There is one more Recumbent Buddha in the temple. It’s 4 meters long. It was brought from Singapore by the tenth abbot of the temple in 1989. Many ancient paintings and Buddhist scriptures are exhibited in different halls of the temple.
