XI'AN
- Shaanxi paper-cut has a long history. Folk paper-cut are used as embroidery patterns and very often as window decorations during festivals. Each piece of it tells a story known in Shaanxi Province.
- Tang tri-color pottery and porcelain are some of treasures of the ancient art of China. Originally tri-colored work appeared in the Tang Dynasty. The colors were usually yellow, green and red. As Xi’an was a capital for the Tang Dynasty a large amount of Tang Dynasty tri-color ware were found here. That is why Xi’an is called the hometown of Tang tri-color pottery and porcelain. Tang tri-color pottery and porcelain has been reproduced in Shaanxi Province.
- The folk art of cloth-patch handicrafts has a long history in Shaanxi. It combines the art of cloth-patch with embroidery to produce toys and daily necessities. The majority of products is of the animals shape with exaggerated features and bright contrasting colors.
