Temple of Heaven is the largest ancient temple complex in China. It’s situated in the southern outlying districts of Beijing. It was built in 1420. Every year on the day of winter solstice the Emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties prayed to Heaven for good harvests and brought the holy gifts to the altar. That’s why the Temple of Heaven can be translated as an Altar of Heaven.
One of the pavilions is enclosed with a stone wall in the form of circle. This wall, the wall of sounds reflection, is famous for the following: two persons can talk or even whisper and hear each other clearly standing at opposite ends of the wall!
Temple of Heaven was included into the List of the World Natural and Cultural Heritages.
