Homestay in Irkutsk and Lake Baikal
ITINERARY
Day 1. Arrive in Irkutsk, the center of Siberia, transfer to homestay.
Acquaintance with a family and local life style. City tour, including a visit to
the main sights of interest. You'll see buildings created in beautiful Siberian
baroque, Russian classical style, in neoclassicism and constructivism, nice
merchant houses and wooden houses so typical for old Siberia. Visit to Znamensky
nunnery famous for its original iconostasis and the site of foundation of
Irkutsk fort. Dinner.
Day 2. Full day trip to the Baikal Lake, the deepest lake in the world. Visit
to the Open-Air Museum of Wooden Architecture on the way. It occupies the
territory of 70 ha. A unique collection of historical and cultural memorials of
Eastern Siberia peoples. Lunch at the restaurant on the shore of Baikal Lake.
Tour to Baikal Museum (so called Limnological Museum) offering a great variety
of species of fauna and flora of Lake Baikal and the lake history. Homestay or
private hotel accommodation.
Day 3. Free time. Afternoon departure to Irkutsk. Homestay. Dinner.
Day 4. Departure transfer to airport or railway station. Departure.
Prime season - the whole year round.
