Nikolai Stepanovich Turchaninov
Nikolai Stepanovich Turchaninov (1796-1863), Russian botanist. He held official posts in various organizations in Siberia. He published a book entitled Baikal-Daur Flora (1842-1857) that was awarded a prize by the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. He catalogued over a hundred new species and over a thousand types of plants of Russia and many other countries.
